Najib Arrives For A Four-Day Working Visit To Japan

TOKYO, March 5 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak held a meeting with Japan's Foreign Minister, Taro Aso, at the Ikura House, here Monday shortly after his arrival for a four-day working visit to Japan.
They discussed various issues relating to bilateral relations and later Najib attended a dinner hosted by Aso.
Earlier, Najib, accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, arrived at the Narita International Airport where they were met by Malaysian ambassador to Japan Datuk Mohamed Radzi Abdul Rahman and other senior officials from the Malaysian embassy.
It was Najib's first working visit to Japan as deputy prime minister. His entourage included Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting, Science and Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis, Entrepreneur and Cooperative minister Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Mohamed Ali Rustam.
Najib, who is also defence minister, will call on Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the latter's office tomorrow, followed by a meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kyuma, at the Ministry of Defence, Ichigaya, where he is scheduled to attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the ministry.
Najib will attend meetings with the Japan-Malaysia Economic Association (Jameca) and Japan's key biotechnology researchers and captains of industry.
He will also witness a signing ceremony between a Japanese company, Kaneka, and the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation on collaboration for mutual benefit in the development and production of biopolymers using Malaysian palm oil as feed stock.
He is scheduled to deliver a talk on "Building Comprehensive Security Environment in East Asia" at the Japan Institute of International Affairs on the third day of his visit.
On the last day, he will tour the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institute in Kobe and attend a briefing by Kansai International Airport on the airport's development and future plan.
Najib will leave for South Korea after the briefing, for another leg of his working visit.
