Penang Draws Up Strategy For Biotech Industry

George Town, Dec 13: Penang has come up with strategies to expand its biotechnology industry and widen its international markets.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the existing manufacturing and information communications technology sectors here must integrate more with global biotech companies.

Koh said he wants to see more small and medium industries hitting the global expansion trail.

"With keen global competition, SMIs need to forge partnerships with international biotech players to be on a par with their Asia Pacific counterparts," he said when opening a workshop on biotechnology at Universiti Sains Malaysia yesterday.
