Praises for BiotechCorp
and M’sia
SAN DIEGO: It has been raining praises for Malaysian
Biotech Corporation (BiotechCorp) at the BIO
International Convention 2008 here from top global
biotechnology based companies.
Many expressed their appreciation to the company for
making Malaysia a favourable place to be for their
biotechnology operations.
US-based Trusgen, LLC president and chief executive
officer R. Bruce Register said BiotechCorp, which
provided the much important advisory support and
facilitation services was instrumental in Trusgen’s
decision to choose Malaysia.
“My experience with them has been positive. I rather
work with BiotechCorp if I need something,” he said.
Trusgen has proposed to invest US$250 million
(RM812.5) million in Malaysia, including the setting
up of a locally-incorporated company. Trusgen
Biopharmaceuticals Sdn Bhd and a world class
biologics manufacturing facility.
Register also said he believed that Malaysia was
well-positioned to become the biologics outsource
capital in Asia.
For India’s Vivo Bio Tech Ltd, apart from Malaysia’s
physical advantage to drive up biotech industry the
support given by relevant parties such as
BiotechCorp and the Malacca state government had
prompted the company to opt for Malaysia.
“We don’t see problems. We have been receiving a lot
of support,” said its managing director Nagraj
Langka.
Vivo Bio Tech has proposed to invest RM450 million
to set up of an integrated biotechnology facility in
Malacca to commercialise bio-therapeutics in
Malaysia.
The contract research and manufacturing services
provider will hold 51% stake in a joint venture
outfit Vivo Bio Tech (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd while its
local partner Melaka Biotech 20% and Vanguard
Creative Technologies the remaining 29% - Bernama.
