MALAYSIAN Biotechnology Corporation Sdn Bhd (BiotechCorp) is taking 20 participants to California in the United States as part of its human capital development under its Global Bio-Entrepreneurship Programme (QB3).

“This programme is in line with BiotechCorp’s target to train up to 240 entrepreneurs in the next three years,” said its chief executive officer Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood.

The week-long trip from Saturday will see representatives from BioNexus companies, research universities key government agencies, institutions supporting the development of entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises as well as public listed companies investing in biotechnology.

He said QB3 is a collaboration with the California Institute for Quantitative Biomedical Research for research, human capital and bio entrepreneurship development.

“Participants will benefit from hands-on experiences and case study discussions with particular emphasis on challenges and opportunities in the biotechnology market,” Iskandar said in Kuala Lumpur.

He said it provides content-rich training enabling participants to strengthen existing capabilities in life science, entrepreneurship and venture financing in biotechnology.

“A significant part of this programme is the participation of a panel of international experts who will provide much sought after sharing of experiences and networking,” he added.

The course also provides in-depth training to establish successful biotechnology companies in Asia, Latin America or other emerging biotech economies.

Participants will learn from experts in the industry, academia and venture capital market. - Bernama
