Biotechnology Entrepreneur Workshop
This 3-day intensive workshop is designed for aspiring and new entrepreneurs to test and prepare business ideas for the commercial environment. It comprises a blend of practical teaching sessions, expert clinics, mentors' sessions and experienced advice and support from leading entrepreneurs and industry experts. These are aimed at giving participants the tools, contacts and confidence to transform their idea into a successful business project or venture.
This workshop enables participants to explore their potential as entrepreneurs and equip themselves with skills and knowledge to start their own business ventures.
Specifically, the workshop offers an unparalleled opportunity for participants to:
- Understand the life cycle of a new venture and what is necessary for a successful launch.
- Develop strategies to address legal issues and protect IP.
- Discover novel approaches to raising capital and chart a unique financial course.
- Obtain resources and contacts to help shape the organisation’s structure and philosophy.
- Understand what a venture capitalist does, what they expect, and how to manage them as investors.
- Be able to effectively communicate their vision to various audiences.
This workshop is targeted for the following participants:’
- Scientists, researchers and other related professionals who want to obtain the tools necessary to commercialise their technology and launch a new business.
- Students, graduates and academics considering their own venture.
- Existing biotechnology start-ups/ new ventures that are seeking to commercialise a new product or service.
To maximise the return on investment made for the workshop, a pre- and post-workshop assessment may be conducted:
- Pre-Work and Entrepreneurship Profiling
Pre-work refers to the preparatory reading and assignment that the participants will undertake prior to attending the workshop. This will enable the participants to prepare for an intensive learning experience and identify key issues to be addressed during the workshop. The participants are also expected to prepare to bring a business idea to work on during the workshop.
Entrepreneurship Profiling attempts to determine the participants’ current level of competency in terms of business skills as well as to identify their entrepreneurial aptitude. The profiles will be used by BiotechCorp to plan for the development of the participants as well as to customise the content of the workshop.
- Post-Program Assessment/ The Elevator Pitch
At the end of the workshop, each participant will be required to provide a brief overview of an idea for a product, service, or project that they have.
The participants will be given an opportunity to pitch an idea to a panel of invited guest from both the industry and investment community to assess the quality of their ideas and advise them on areas that they may need to improve on in order to enhance their business proposition.
