IP Conference 2007
The Intellectual Property (IP) Conference 2007 entitled “IPR: Empowering Biotechnology” was held on March 27 & 28, 2007 at the Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event was co-organized by BiotechCorp with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO). The Conference was officiated by BiotechCorp’s CEO, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Iskandar Mizal Mahmood.
The conference attracted about 170 people from various universities, government ministries and agencies, research institutes, patent agents and biotechnology companies. The two day conference marked BiotechCorp’s first initiative to create awareness and educate the public on the importance of IP and its role in the creation of wealth, particularly in the context of biotechnology. This event reflects a strong collaboration between BiotechCorp and MyIPO in creating awareness of IP in Malaysia.
The Conference provided an opportunity for biotechnology industry players from various sectors to discuss pertinent issues such as best practices for building and managing IP assets, securitization of intellectual property assets and commercialisation. Various foreign speakers from Singapore and the United States were invited to share their experience in their own countries. Local speakers considered experts in their own field also gave their first hand experience in tackling IP issues.
