STEVIAN BIOTECHNOLOGY CORPORATION SDN BHD
Stevian Biotechnology Corporation (SBC) Sdn Bhd was
incorporated on 3 May 2002. It is a pioneer
biotechnology company of its kind in the South-east
Asian region with large investments in a
polyfunctional biotechnology plant in Malaysia
capable of producing enzymatically enhanced natural
sweeteners and a whole range of biochemical products
and derivatives.
SBC is currently focusing on research, development,
production and commercialization of Stevia-based
sweeteners.
SBC’s current commercialized products are as
follows:
- Rebaudioside (Reb-A)
High intensity natural sweetener which is in
commercially viable quantities accumulating in the
leaves of Stevia Rebaudioside plant. In its pure
state, it is 400 times to 450 times sweeter than
sugar. SBC is able to isolate Reb-A and purify it up
to a 98% purity level, being the 1st in the country
and currently the only company in the world to be
able to do so on a large commercial scale
Rebaudioside A.
- Sweta
Sweta is SBC’s industrial brand of Enzymatically
Treated Stevioside (ETS). It is a co-product derived
from the extraction of Reb-A. It is highly purified,
odourless white fine powdered natural sweetener made
out of glycosides naturally extracted from leaf of
the Stevia herb plant. Sweta’s sweetness is 150
times greater than sugar and is mainly used as
beverages ingredients.
