MALAYSIAN GENOMICS RESOURCE CENTRE SDN BHD

Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Sdn Bhd (“MGRC”) was incorporated on 18 May 2004. The Company commenced operations in 2005 with the objective of providing easy access to ultra fast sequence analysis tools and contract research services.

MGRC currently has two operational business units namely, Application Services which manages its Application Service Provider (ASP) services, and Customized Services which act as a Contract Research Organization.
The Company’s objective is to develop their application services while expanding in-house expertise to meet the increase in requests for contract research services that range from bulk analysis to custom genomic database development and hosting.

COMPANY’S ACTIVITIES AND PRODUCTS
MGRC’s services are subdivided into 3 major activities.

1. Application Services
   MGRC offers a selection of 2nd generation bioinformatics application in an ASP-styled service. The initial basket of applications consists of a suite of tools known as the SynaSuite.
   The ASP unit currently services users from various universities and genome centres worldwide. The Application Services Unit will provide on line access to high throughput bioinformatics application used for genomics analyzes.
   
   
2. Customized Services
   The Customized Services unit which acts a contract research organization currently derived income from project-based services such as dedicated server access, processing services and analysis of private data. Clients who wish to analyze their own genomic data using MGRC’s application can do so after they have transmitted their data to MGRC, and after MGRC has built a SynaBASE of their data.
   
   
3. Research Publishing (Release of assembled genomes)
   One of the primary objectives of MGRC is to make headways into international scientific community in terms of published research such as the release of assembled genomes.
