MALAYSIAN BIO-DIAGNOSTIC RESEARCH SDN BHD

Malaysian Bio-Diagnostics Research Sdn. Bhd. (MBDr) was incorporated in 1994 and began its operations in September 1995. MBDr was initially established as a company to commercialize research undertaken on diagnosis of typhoid fever; however it has expended into producing various other medical diagnostics products utilizing technology platforms such as protein-bassed immunochromatography tests (ICT test), polymerase chain reaction method (PCR) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay method (ELISA).

MBDr is the pioneer company in Malaysia to incorporate these three technology platforms into its medical diagnostic products which serve the in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) market. IVD tests are used to determine the presence, concentration or absence of a particular substance(s) or condition and are utilized in hospitals, clinics, reference laboratories, alternative are facilities, ambulatory care centers and consumer homes. The company is currently developing new medical diagnostic products for the detechtion of various diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, HIV, paratyphoid, the Nipah virus and dengue via strategic partnerships with universities such as Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Malaya (UM).

It aims to position itself as a global leader in developing and marketing diagnostic tects, providing a strong foundation for diagnostics and treatment decisions. Besides the loval market, MBDr has managed to capture the export markets in Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Guam, India, Pakistan, Timor-Leste and Australia. The company is expanding its initiatives to penetrate the South America, Africa and Middle East markets.

MBDr is a 100% Malaysian-owned ISO9001:2000 certified company based in the MTBC Smart Technology Centerin Bangi, Selangor and has garnered a MAMPU Company of the Year Award in 2001.
