IPT Kosmo BioTechnology Sdn. Bhd (IPT Kosmo), a Malaysian company focused on improving wastewater treatment is a joint venture company between Kosmo Seraya Sdn. Bhd (the holding company of Kosmo Techonology Industrial Bhd) and In-Pipe Technology Company (Wheaton, Illinois, USA). IPT Kosmo is involved in the research, development and efficient, wastewater treatment, waste reduction and waste bioconversion processes. Through the acquisition of patent rights and process technology from it’s US partner, IPT Kosmo offers its services throughout the ASEAN region and undertakes the development of new biotechnology innovations.

IPT Kosmo utilizes biological augmentation technology that re-engineers the sewer biofilm’s resident within the pipe collection network. In doing so it economically delivers numerous benefits to wastewater treatment systems including reduction in operation costs, achievement of compliance standards, odor and corrosion control, FOG (fat, oil and grease) control and improved wastewater treatment plant productivity. This patented biotechnology process represents a fundamental chift in the economics and methods of wastewater treatment. Rather than waiting until wastewater arrives at the treatment plant, IPT Kosmo’s process begines the treatment process in the far reaches of the sewer system, closer to the cource. IPT Kosmo’s advanced biological wastewater treatment, uses the natural retention time in the miles of sewer piping to treat the waste en-rout to the plant.

IPT Kosmo has installed two pilot projects using this patented technology in Malaysia and two in Thailand respectively.

The advanced biological wastewater treatment technology provides a much needed solution to the challenges and capital restrictions that many wastewater treatment plants and governments are facing today. IPT Kosmo’s technology provides an economically affordable, technically effective, natural and sustainable means of improving the water quality environment for the ASEAN region.
